Chocolate Chip Pretzel Cookies

Day 5 of the 10 Days of Christmas Cookies and bars is one of my all time favorites. I usually make it as a bar, but it’s even better as a cookie.
Chocolate Chip Pretzel Cookies (adapted from Brown Eyed Baker )
2 c. flour
1 t. baking soda
½ t. salt
½ c. butter (1 stick), softened
¼ c. applesauce
¾ c. brown sugar
¾ c. sugar
1 egg
1 egg white
12 ounce bag of chocolate chips
1 c. pretzels, chopped
¼ c. chocolate chips for drizzling
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
2. In a medium bowl combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
3. In a large bowl cream the butter, applesauce, and sugars until well combined. Beat in the egg and egg white. Stir in the vanilla.
4. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips and chopped pretzels.7. Put the ¼ c. chocolate chips into a baggie and microwave for 30 seconds. Squeeze bag and continue heating at 30 second intervals until chips are melted. Seal the bag, snip of the end, and drizzle over cookies.
*Makes about 4 dozen cookies.




I like how these cookies combine sweet and salty. Tasty!
