Thrive Energy Cookie | 150 Plant-Based Whole Food RecipesThrive Energy Cookbook is filled with clean, plant based recipes to give you energy.  The first section of the book talks about plant based nutrition, acquiring energy from foods, and how some of the recipes came about.   After this section there is a pantry section outlying items that should be in every pantry.   Included in the pantry are a variety of fruits and vegetables, seeds, whole grains, nuts, starches, herbs, spices, and many other pantry staples.

The recipes begin with the basics.   How to make your own almond milk, coconut butter, and other important staples.  It then moves to breakfast, sandwiches, soups, salads, noodle and rice dishes, beverages, and desserts.  The photos that accompany the recipes are brightly colored and gorgeous.  I was drooling over those lovely photos.

The recipes themselves range from extremely easy to somewhat difficult.  A few that I would like to try would be the Burrito Wrap, Buffalo Burger, Spicy Miso Mushroom Soup, and Super Fruit Sangria.   They all sound amazing.  There are plenty of different recipes using a variety of fruits and vegetables so everyone should be able to find something that they would enjoy.

My main difficulty with this cookbook was finding all of the ingredients needed to make the recipes.   I live in a small town and many of the ingredients are not readily available here.   If I was still living in the city it would be easy to gather what I needed, but living in a rural town it was fairly difficult.  Also, I found that many of the recipes had an excess of ingredients and would be rather expensive to make.   I personally would reduce the amount of ingredients in many of these recipes and I am someone who really enjoys getting in the kitchen and cooking.

Overall, most of the recipes in the book sound and look delicious.  People looking to make plant based whole food recipes and that are living in areas where these ingredients are available would love this cookbook.  Unfortunately, people like myself living in more rural areas would need to make some substitutions along the way.

I give this book 2 1/2 out of 5 stars.
