If you haven’t heard of Sriracha you must be living under a rock.  It is one of the most popular sauces of the past year.  In fact, it’s gotten so popular that there have been rumors that there is going to be a shortage.  It is a Thai hot sauce made from chili peppers, vinegar, sugar, and garlic.

Spicy Sriracha Popcorn

I often use Sriracha in my Asian cooking to give my sauces some spice but it has also been put into everything from mac n cheese and deviled eggs to bloody Mary’s and spiced nuts.   Since I’ve been on a gourmet popcorn kick (and was looking for a flavor my brother would enjoy) I knew that Sriracha would be a winner.  He loves everything hot so I knew this would be perfect for him.

I mixed together Sriracha, butter, salt, and pepper.  I used just enough Sriracha to make it spicy and to give it a bright orange color.  This popcorn is simple to make and packs a big punch!

Sriracha Popcorn (a Hezzi-D original)
8 c. popcorn, popped
1 T. Sriracha
2 T. butter, melted
1 t. salt

1/2 t. garlic powder
1/2 t. black pepper

1.  In a large bowl combine the Sriracha and melted butter.  Pour over top of the popcorn and toss to combine.

2.  Sprinkle with salt, garlic powder,  and pepper and toss.

3.  Allow the popcorn to sit for 30 minutes.   This is best eaten the day it is made.
