I love baking cookies and this past weekend  baked a ton of them!   My little brother got married this weekend and I baked cookies for the reception.  As is tradition of a Pittsburgh wedding, all the family members and friends of the bride and groom bake cookies to go on a cookie table at the reception.  It is probably my very favorite wedding tradition.   What’s better then baking cookies for my family?   Baking cookies for a good cause like OXO’s Cookies for Kids’ Cancer program.Heart shaped sugar cookies with icing and sprinkles!

OXO sent me some of their fabulous tools for making sugar cookies.   September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and I was happy to use these products to make cookies for  OXO’s annual Cookies for Kids’ Cancer Campaign. Cookies for Kids’ Cancer was founded by two OXOnians (OXO employees) who were inspired by their son Liam’s battle with pediatric cancer.  Cookies for Kids’ Cancer provides inspiration, ideas and support for people everywhere to help fight pediatric cancer.

Since I was making wedding cookies, I was excited that a heart shaped cookie cutter was part of the 3 piece cookie cutter set.  It made the perfect heart shaped cookies for the wedding.  I was also able to use the OXO measuring cups and measuring spoons to measure out my ingredients.  I baked up the cookies to a light golden brown and removed them from the trays with my Good Cookie Spatula.  I love this spatula.  It’s the perfect size for cookies.  In fact, I like it so much I have 3 of them!Making cookies with oxo

After the cookies cooled, I put the icing on using the bent icing knife which allowed me to get the icing on the cookies and not on my hands.  I finished the cookies off with a variety of colored sprinkles.   You can use any color you want but I used silver on the pink cookies, gold on the red cookies, and a combination of white, pink, and red on the white cookies.  They looked wonderful and were the perfect accent for my cookie trays.
