When Kate Davidson gets an offer to teach yoga classes at the Elysian Springs resort, she jumps at the opportunity–even if it means enduring the wedding ceremony of the center’s two caretakers. But avoiding the M-word turns out to be the least of Kate’s problems when a wedding guest is found floating face-down in the resort’s hot tub, shortly after a loud, public fight with Kate.

The police pick Kate as their number-one suspect, so she teams up with her boyfriend Michael, best friend Rene, and German shepherd sidekick Bella to find the real killer. They must solve the crime before the police arrest Kate, or her next gig may last a lifetime–behind bars.  (-synopsis)

A Killer Retreaat

Kate isn’t thrilled that she is leaving her yoga studio behind for 10 days while she teaches at Elysian Springs resort.   She was excited about it but now that it’s here she worries that something will go wrong.  The entire drive to the resort makes Kate nervous as worries about her dog, her boyfriend, and her yoga studio.

Once at the resort she is thrilled by the yoga studio.  It’s just what she pictured it.  Unfortunately her room is less then stellar and her conversations with her boyfriend Michael keep turning towards marriage.  Kate isn’t ready to discuss marriage and keeps avoiding it at all costs.  The more she avoids the more annoyed Michael gets.

Things get worse when the yoga studio at home keeps calling with problems.  Kate is trying to deal with them but she has problems of her own.   Kate finds a dead body in the hot tub and it belongs to a woman she had a huge fight with the day before.   Soon she is the number one suspect and earns a trip down to the police station.

Back at the resort Kate must find out who the real killer is before she’s arrested.   With the help of Michael, her best friend Renee, and Bella, her dog, she tries to get the guests to open up about how they feel about the victim.  Will Kate find the killer before the killer finds her?

This is a fun and easy to read cozy mystery centering around yoga.  It was a cute story though there was a lot of clashing between the characters and a lot of secret keeping between couples.  I enjoyed reading it and trying to find out who the killer was since there were so many people who had a motive.   It was also fun to figure out how all of the characters were related to one another or what their relationships were.

I give this book 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.
