It’s no secret that I like to snack throughout the day. Sometimes I crave the saltiness of pretzels and other days I crave the sweetness of chocolate. Then there are days when I will eat one and then crave the other. It’s a cycle I wish I could break but it’s hard.
So when I went on my gourmet popcorn kick I wanted to make a snack that was both sweet and salty. Using salted popcorn as a base it was easy to mix ingredients to make a delicious snack that curbed both my sweet tooth and my salty side. I mixed in peanuts, M & M’s, and then drizzled it in white chocolate. The end result had a good crunch and was sweet and salty and just about the perfect snack.
Sweet and Salty Popcorn (a Hezzi-D original)
8 c. popped popcorn
1 t. sea salt
1 T. butter, melted
1/2 c. salted peanuts
1/2 c. pretzels, broken into pieces
1/2 c. M & M’s
1/2 c. white chocolate, melted
1. In a large bowl toss the popcorn, sea salt, butter, peanuts, pretzels, and M & M’s. Toss to combine then pour onto a cookie sheet.
2. Place the melted white chocolate in a zip top bag and snip off the end. Drizzle the popcorn with the chocolate.
3. Let the popcorn sit for 30 minutes so the chocolate hardens. Break into pieces and store in an air tight container for up to 1 week.
