Last week I was lucky enough to get to try Diet-to-Go. Diet-to-Go is a company that sends meals to your door that are ready to go. All you need to do is heat them and eat. They offer three distinct menus, several meal plan options with hundreds of healthy and delicious meals, and can fit into any budget. There are breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. You can choose to order just lunch and dinners or all three meals. I chose the low fat meal plan but their are also low car and vegetarian plans.
Before I received the meals I was a bit skeptical about these meals. Often times diet meals don't fill me up and don't taste great. When my box arrived I couldn't believe the amount of food that was in it! In addition to food, many of the breakfast and lunch entrees included a drink as well. There were so many different options to choose from and I was overwhelmed by the quantity of the food. I could immediately tell there was no way I was going to go hungry eating these meals.
Of course, I wanted to try the meals to make sure the quality was just as good as the quantity. The breakfast meals were awesome and sometimes had too much in them that I couldn't eat it all! Most of the breakfast meals come with some type of juice and many of them come with yogurt. I really enjoyed the Whole Grain Pancakes with strawberry maple syrup. I could eat those daily! Another favorite was the egg and broccoli pie, which is like a quiche, with apple juice and applesauce.
For lunch I almost always found that I had too much food. Many of the entrees for lunch are sandwiches which are really filling. Then they come with a side dish and something to drink (most times). One of the best ones was the Chicken Florentine Burger, which was a chicken burger with spinach, and it came with a V8 Fusion drink, apple jello, and a yogurt drink. I had to put the yogurt drink in the refrigerator for later. My favorite meal of all were the Tuscan Boats which were potatoes stuffed with sausage, tomatoes, cheese, and other goodies. Delicious!
Dinners were probably the most varied. There are fish meals, chicken, turkey, and even shrimp! The chicken parmesan with broccoli and a roll was great and looked like something I'd make for myself. I was pleased with the quality of the meals and the amount of food in them. I was never hungry and had no need to snack. If I did get a little hungry, I simply drank the juice that I didn't drink with breakfast or lunch and went on with my day.
There were a few meals that weren't my cup of tea, but it was more based on what I like and don't like then on the taste of them. I wasn't a fan of the shrimp, but I really don't like shrimp. Some of the sandwiches had ingredients on them that I picked off. However, the great thing about this plan is that you can make inlimited substitutions! I can simply go into my account, see what is shipping next week, and take off any menu items I don't think I'd like and put in something that I know I would (Yes, I'm talking to you Tuscan Potatoes).
In actuality, these meals lasted me 10 days instead of the 7 they were supposed to because of the amount of food. In the first week I ended up dropping 2 pounds and I felt like I was eating more then usual! These are also great meals to take to work because they heat up in the microwave in 2 minutes or less which is perfect when I'm in a hurry and don't have much time to eat.
Diet-to-go also has an wonderful app. On the app you can set up goals, track what you are eating (both Diet-to-go meals and other things), and track your exercise. It also syncs with your FitBit! How cool is that? There are forums to chat about food and weight loss and also places to gain support and learn tips to succeed.
Overall I was really pleased with these meals. My husband ended up trying a few as well and was happy with them too. They provided enough food for both of us to enjoy and were good quality. Most meals included some type of fresh fruit or vegetables which was nice to have. So many ready to eat meals do not have fruit in them!
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
