Jazz up old school tacos with onions, peppers, chilies, and homemade salsa.
Ingredients
  • 1 T. olive oil
  • 1 onions, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 t. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 T. chili powder
  • 2 T. cumin
  • 1 t. paprika
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1½ lb. lean ground beef (I used 90/10)
  • salt and pepper
  • 4 oz. can green chilies
  • 2 c. homemade salsa
  • 2 t. hot sauce
  • 12 hard taco shells
  • cheddar cheese, lettuce, jalapenos, and sour cream for topping
Instructions
  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, for 4 minutes. Add in the bell pepper and cook for 2 minutes.
  2. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, cumin, paprika, and garlic cloves. Mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
  3. Add in the ground beef, salt, and pepper. Cook, breaking up the beef, for 5 minutes or until no longer pink.
  4. Mix in the green chilies, salsa, and hot sauce. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  5. Reduce heat to low and cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes.
  6. To serves, fill the taco shells with ground beef mixture and top with cheese, lettuce, jalapenos, and sour cream.
