Pizzelle Sundaes

Serves: makes 10 sundaes
Turn pizzelle cookies into a delicious ice cream sundae bowl!
For the pizzelles:
  • 1 egg
  • 3 T. sugar
  • 2 T. brown sugar
  • ½ t. cinnamon
  • ½ t. nutmeg
  • ½ t. salt
  • 5 T. butter, melted
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • ½ c. flour
For the toppings:
  • Vanilla ice cream
  • Caramel Sauce
  • Whipped Cream
  • Mini Chocolate Chips
  1. Whisk the egg in a medium bowl. Add in the sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Whisk until smooth.
  2. Gently whisk in the butter and vanilla.
  3. Add the flour and whisk until fully incorporated.
  4. Cover the bowl and set aside for 10 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, heat a pizzelle maker. Before adding the batter spray both sides with cooking spray.
  6. Add one tablespoon of batter to the center of each pizzelle plate on the pizzelle maker. Close the maker and cook for 30 seconds. Check to see the doneness of the cookie. Close and cook for an additional 10 seconds if desired.
  7. Using a long, flat icing spatula, pick up the pizzelle and drape it gently over top of a small bowl and allow it to cool for 5 minutes. Repeat with remaining batter.
  8. Gently remove the pizzelle bowls from the bowls. Fill with ice cream then top with caramel sauce, whipped cream, and mini chocolate chips.
