Caramel Walnut Baked French Toast

Baked French Toast in homemade caramel sauce sprinkled with walnuts.
  • 12 T. salted butter
  • ½ c. brown sugar
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • ½ c. walnuts, chopped
  • 6-8 slices thick French Bread (about 1 inch thick)
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 1 t. cinnamon
  • 1 t. salt
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In an oven proof pan heat the butter on the stove top over medium heat until melted. Add in the brown sugar and stir until mostly combined.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla and walnuts making sure the mixture evenly coats the bottom of the pan.
  4. In a medium bowl combine the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Mix well.
  5. Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture and then set in the pan on top of the caramel and walnuts.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and carefully flip each piece over. Bake for another 10-15 minutes or until the French Toast is golden brown.
  7. Remove from oven and enjoy immediately.
