Ingredients

  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 3 Tablespoons warm water
  • 1 c. warm milk
  • 1 Tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3-3 1/2 c. flour
  • 3 Tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 c. Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl dissolve the yeast in the warm water.
  • Add in the milk, sugar, oil, and salt. Mix well.
  • Stir in 2 cups of flour and mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Turn onto a floured surface and knead in the addition 1 cup of flour. Continue kneading for 5-8 minutes.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, flipping over once to coat with oil. Cover and let rise for 1 1/2 hours or until doubled.
  • Punch down the dough and divide into 12 pieces.
  • In a small bowl combine the butter, garlic cloves, parsley, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  • Roll each piece of dough into a ball. Dip it into the butter mixture and place it in a greased loaf pan. Continue with remaining dough. Pour any extra butter over top of the bread.
  • Sprinkle the bread with Parmesan cheese. Cover and allow to rise for 1 hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Bake the bread for 40 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and cool for 10 minutes.
  • Serve with marinara if desired.
