Ingredients

For the scones:

  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 c. 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 c. heavy cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large or 2 small apples peeled and finely chopped

For the glaze:

  • 3 Tablespoons caramel sauce
  • 1/2 c. powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  • In a large bowl combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Cut the butter into tiny pieces and add to the dry ingredients. Using your fingers, combine the butter with the dry ingredients until the mixture looks like wet sand.
  • In a small bowl combine the heavy cream, egg, brown sugar, and vanilla and mix well.
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  • Fold in the apples.
  • Pour the dough onto a flour surface and shape into an 8 inch circle. Use a pizza cutter and cut into 8 wedges.
  • Place the wedges on a baking sheet 2 inches apart. Bake for 22-25 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
  • Remove from oven and cool completely.
  • In a small bowl combine the ingredients for the glaze. Mix well.
  • Place the glaze in a zip top baggie and snip off the end. Drizzle onto the cooled scones.
