Ingredients

For the scones:

  • 2 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 2 small apples chopped into small pieces
  • 1/2 c. pecans chopped
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

For the glaze:

  • 1/2 c. powdered sugar
  • 1-2 Tablespoons milk

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
  • In a large mixing bowl combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Cut the butter into small pieces and place in the flour mixture. Use your fingers and rub the butter into the flour until it resembles wet sand.
  • Add in the apples and pecans and stir gently.
  • Pour in the milk and vanilla and stir until a crumbly dough forms.
  • Pour the dough onto a flour covered surface and knead for a few seconds.
  • Press the dough into a rectangle. Using a pizza cutter cut the dough into 8 diagonal pieces.
  • Place on a cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes.
  • Remove to a wire rack and cool completely.
  • To make the glaze whisk the ingredients together until smooth. Drizzle on top of cooled scones.
