Cheddar Garlic Dinner Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 package yeast I used Red Star Platinum Yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 c. warm water
  • 1 c. warm milk
  • 1/4 c. butter melted and cooled
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 3 1/2 - 4 c. flour
  • 3/4 c. cheddar cheese shredded

Instructions

  • In a large bowl combine the year, 1 teaspoon sugar, and warm water. Mix and allow to sit for 5 minutes.
  • Add in the warm milk, butter, salt, pepper, egg, sugar, and garlic cloves. Mix well.
  • Add in the flour a half cup at a time until a soft dough forms.
  • Add the cheddar cheese and mix until well combined.
  • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 6-8 minutes, adding in flour as needed.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning once. Cover the bowl and let rise for 1 hour.
  • After 1 hour punch down the dough. Divide the dough in half then divide each half into 5 pieces.
  • Spray a round cake pan or an 8 x 8 baking pan. Place the balls of dough in the pan then cover and allow to rise for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  • Bake for 14-16 minutes or until the rolls begin to brown. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.
