Honey Sesame Tofu

A delicious crispy tofu in a sweet and slightly spicy sauce served with broccoli over top of rice.

Ingredients

  • 1 block extra firm tofu pressed
  • 3 Tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili paste
  • 3 Tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoons oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 Tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 c. broccoli florets
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 Tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 c. prepared rice

Instructions

  • In a bowl combine the soy sauce, chili paste, honey, oyster sauce, black pepper, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.
  • Cut the tofu into 1 inch cubes and place in the marinade. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Spray an 8 x 8 baking dish with cooking spray. Place the tofu in the pan reserving extra marinade.
  • Bake for 20 minutes, turn the tofu over, and bake for another 20 minutes.
  • In a large skillet place the reserved marinade, garlic cloves, and cornstarch. Whisk to combine.
  • Place the skillet over medium heat and add in the broccoli. Cook for 3-4 minutes.
  • Add in the tofu and increase heat to medium high. Cook for 3-5 minutes or until the sauce has thickened and is sticking to the tofu and broccoli.
  • Remove from stove and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve over rice.
