Red Velvet Kiss Cookies

Ingredients

  • 8 Tablespoons salted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • red food coloring
  • 1 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 Tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup red sanding sugar
  • 18 Hershey's Kisses

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a large bowl cream together the butter and brown sugar.
  • Add in the egg, vanilla, and a few drops of red food coloring. Mix well.
  • Add in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
  • Using a tablespoon roll the dough into 18 equal sized balls.
  • Roll each ball into the sanding sugar and place on the cookie sheet 2 inches apart.
  • Use the base of a glass press the dough balls down slightly.
  • Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and press a Hershey's Kiss into the center.
  • Allow the cookie to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
