Warm Apple Crisp

Baked cinnamon apples with a buttery and crunchy oat crumble on top.

Ingredients

For the apples:

  • 6 c. apple peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

For the oat crumble:

  • 3/4 c. oats
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 Tablespoons butter melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  • Place the sliced apples in the bottom of an 8 x 8 baking dish.  Sprinkled with sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • In a small bowl combine the water and lemon juice.  Pour over top of the apple mixture. 
  • In a small bowl combine the ingredients for the topping.  Mix well until the mixture is crumbly.  Sprinkle over top of the apple mixture in the baking dish.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the apple filling is bubbling and the top is golden brown.  Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes.
