Orange Cranberry Sangria

Ingredients

For the simple syrup:

  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. fresh cranberries
  • zest of 1 orange
  • 2 cinnamon sticks

For the sangria:

  • 1 bottle dry red wine
  • 3/4 c. orange liqueur
  • 16 oz. cranberry juice
  • 1/4 c. lime juice
  • 1/2 c. cranberry orange simple syrup recipe above
  • 2 oranges sliced
  • 1 c. cranberries
  • 3 cinnamon sticks broken in half

Instructions

  • To make the simple syrup put all ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium high heat.
  • Bring to a boil and boil hard for 5 minutes or until the cranberries have burst open.
  • Pour the mixture through a fine mesh sieve and save the liquid. You can discard the solids.
  • To make the sangria pour the red wine, orange liqueur, cranberry juice, lime juice, and simple syrup in a large conatiner. Add the fruit and cinnamon sticks. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  • To serve fill glasses with ice and pour in the sangria. Garnish with orange slices, fresh cranberries, and cinnamon sticks.
  • You can also leave out the simple syrup if guests want to add more to their sangria.
