Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl cream together the butter, sugar, and brown sugar.
Add in the egg, corn syrup, vanilla, and maple and mix well until combined.
In a medium bowl combine the cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
Roll dough balls that are one and a half inches in diameter and roll in the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar. Place them on a cookie sheet at least 2 inches apart.
Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes or until the look set. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 1-2 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
