Healthier Applesauce Spice Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 1/3 cup butter melted
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt plain or vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup graham flour or other whole grain flour
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 medium apple chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray a loaf pan with with cooking spray and set aside.
  • In a large bowl combine the applesauce, butter, yogurt, and vanilla. Mix well to combine.
  • Add in the brown sugar and mix until smooth. Beat in the egg.
  • In a medium bowl combine the cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  • Add the dry ingredient to the wet ingredients and mix until well combined. Fold in the apples.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 55-65 minutes or until the bread is golden brown on top and on the edges.
  • Remove from oven and place on a wire rack. Cook for 15 minutes then run a knife around the edges and remove the bread from the pan. Cool completely on a wire rack.
