Instant Pot Hawaiian Barbecue Ribs

Make ribs in the Instant Pot with a sweet and sticky Hawaiian Barbecue sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 small racks of ribs 1 1/2 to 2 pounds each cut in half
  • Kosher salt
  • Black Pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 Tablespoons chile powder
  • 1 1/4 c. prepared barbecue sauce
  • 1/3 c. vinegar
  • 1 Tablespoon grated ginger
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1/4 c. pineapple juice
  • 1/4 c. ketchup

Instructions

  • Place the metal trivet in the bottom of the Instant Pot. Sprinkle the ribs with salt and pepper. Rub them with the vegetable oil then rub with the chile powder.
  • Place the rack of ribs inside the pot.
  • In a medium bowl whisk together 1/2 cup of barbecue sauce, the vinegar, ginger, and garlic. Pour over top of the ribs in the pot. Add an additional 1/2 cup of water to the bottom of the Instant Pot.
  • Place the lid on the pot and set on high pressure for 45 minutes.
  • At the end of the 45 minutes allow the steam to release naturally for 10 minutes then release the remaining steam manually.
  • Remove the ribs from the pot and place on a foil lined baking sheet. Preheat the broiled in your oven.
  • In a small bowl whisk together the remaining barbecue sauce, pineapple juice, ketchup, and 1/4 cup of the liquid from the bottom of the Instant Pot.
  • Broil the ribs for 3-5 minutes or until the sauce is sticky.
  • Brush the sauce over top of the ribs.
