Let’s talk tea. I’ve always been a big tea drinker. In the summer I enjoy an iced cold glass of black tea while in the winter I love drinking a mug of hot flavored tea. There are so many different flavors out there that it’s hard to choose just one!
As a child whenever I was having a bad day or I didn’t feel well or I got a bad grade on a test I knew that my dad would be there to make me a cup of “Daddy’s Special Tea.” No matter how bad my mood was I always felt better after my first sip. It’s basically a cup of flavored Bigelow hot tea with honey and lemon but there’s a lot of love in there too. In fact, my husband and I still make each other “Daddy’s Special Tea” when we are having a bad day.
Since I like to drink a variety of flavors I usually buy Bigelow Tea. Bigelow Tea has a huge variety of flavored teas. I like that each tea bag is wrapped in a foil wrapper to ensure freshness. It’s also nice because I can put multiple flavors in my tea canister and I always know which tea bag is which because there is a label on each foil package.
Did you know that tea is the second most widely consumed beverage in the world? Only water beats it! Plus 82% of Americans drink tea and it’s because an American tradition! So more and more Americans are choosing to “Tea Proudly” by sharing a cup with friends or family and making it a social event as well as a way to warm up and soothe the soul.
So I’ve told you that I enjoy a cup of tea when I’m feeling down but that isn’t the only time I like one. I often enjoy a cup of hot tea with a sweet treat in the afternoon. It’s a great way to give myself a few minutes of peace while enjoying a snack and warming up my body. If it’s warm enough I like to sit out on our sun porch, soak up the rays, and have a few minutes alone. Of course if my husbands home he likes to join me and we have a nice chat over a cup of tea and some sweets.
Bigelow Tea isn’t just for drinking. I like infusing it into my sweet treats as well. One of my favorite sweets are cupcakes. I really like these Vanilla Chai Cupcakes with Orange Frosting. I am able to get all the ingredients I need for them at my local Walmart store. The milk for the cupcakes is infused with Bigelow Vanilla Chai tea. It gives the cupcake a subtle flavors of spices and vanilla. Then I infuse the milk for the frosting with Bigelow Constant Comment tea. This gives the frosting a hint of orange and spices which works really well with the sweetness.
The cupcakes are fairly firm which I think goes well with a cup of hot tea. The frosting is piled high on top and the entire cupcake is sweet and delicious. My husband likes to enjoy his with a cup of Bigelow Green Tea while I like to have a cup of Constant Comment. I feel like the Constant Comment brings out the orange notes in the frosting.

A Hezzi-D Original Recipe
Hmmm, vanilla chai tea is my favorite and I love that you used it in your cupcake recipe. And I agree, there is something about tea that just makes you feel better. I have similar memories of my Nana making me tea as a little girl when we’d have our chats during a visit. You just don’t get that with other drinks. 🙂 #client
