The best peach crisp combines fresh, juicy peaches with a combination of frozen berries all topped off with a buttery and crunchy crumble topping.

I don’t know about you but in the summer I love going to the farmer’s market to pick up fresh produce.  It’s nice to be able to support local farmer’s and get produce for a decent price.
Stone fruits have recently come into season here and we have a guy who owns an orchard that comes to the farmer’s market every week. He sells his fruits in different size baskets for a very cheap price.
What are stone fruits?
Stone fruits are a type of fruit that has a large, hard pit or “stone” inside. This pit contains the seed of the fruit. Common stone fruits are peaches, plums, and cherries.Â
I ended up getting myself a big basket of peaches and a smaller basket of nectarines. I figured if nothing else I could chop them up and have them in a fruit salad.
I was dying to use the peaches right away but I didn’t want to make anything too time consuming. I love fruit crisps and crumbles so I decided to go with that.
My favorite crisp recipe is Salted Caramel Apple Crisp. It’s actually made on the stove top and then just broiled for a few minutes at the end.
I also make Individual Plum Crisps which are the perfect individual serving. Other stone fruits can be swapped out for the plums. For something different I made these unique and tart Mandarin Orange Rhubarb Crisps.
For this recipe I was just going to make it with fresh peaches but I thought it needed a little something else. I had a bag of frozen berries and peaches in the freezer and decided to combine that along with the fresh peaches to make the crisp.
Can I use fresh berries in this recipe?
Of course you can! I simply used frozen berries because I had a bag in the freezer. Plus they were already cut up so I knew it would make this dessert even easier. Feel free to use whole fresh blueberries and raspberries and cut strawberries and blackberries. You can use one berry or a combination of berries.
Ingredients:
- fresh peaches (I do not peel my peaches for desserts but you can if you’d like)
- frozen berries
- granulated sugar
- cornstarch
- fresh lemon juice
- oats (quick cooking or old fashioned)
- all purpose flour
- brown sugar
- cinnamon
- salted butter (or unsalted if you prefer)
To make the peach crisp the first thing you need to do is slice your peaches into thin slices. I do not peel my peaches but I know that a lot of people do. If you want to go ahead but don’t feel like you have to for this recipe.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Toss the peach slices, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice together in a bowl.
Place a layer of peach slices in the bottom of a 9 inch square baking dish. Pour the frozen berries over top and spread evenly. Top with the remaining peach slices.
In a small bowl combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Mix well.  Cut the butter into small pieces and add them to the mixture in the bowl. Using your fingers, mix until a crumble forms.Â
Sprinkle the crumble over top of the peaches. Bake for 25 minutes or until the top is turning golden brown. If you want it darker go ahead and broil it for 1-2 minutes, keeping a close eye on the topping.
Remove from the oven and enjoy with fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
This Peach Crisp was perfection.  The main flavor was the sweet peaches with a burst of berries for good measure. The crisp was buttery and tasted of oats and cinnamon.
We served ours with vanilla ice cream on top which was a great choice. I could have eaten the entire pan myself!
How do you store Peach crisp?
If you have any leftover simply cover the baking dish with foil or plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. When ready to eat heat in microwave or oven.
