Gourmet Salted Caramel S'mores are ready in just 10 minutes!

Picture this.  It’s Friday night.   I’ve had a long week of teaching, meetings, and after school activities.   The weather has warmed up and I’ve been looking forward to a Friday night treat.  In my kitchen I had a package of Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bars, a bag of Kraft’s Jet Puffed Marshmallows, and a box of Honey Maid Graham Cracker Squares.  It’s looking like it’s going to be a S’mores Summer in our house.

Everything you need to make delicious S'mores

I’m not just talking about regular S’mores either.   While I love a good graham cracker with a toasted marshmallow and a piece of Hershey’s chocolate, every now and then I like to put a little twist on the traditional and make gourmet S’mores.  On the menu were Chocolate Covered Strawberry S’mores and Salted Caramel S’mores.   My husband and I have been eagerly awaiting Friday night to build a fire, sit outside, and make a few S’mores.

As we were gathering up all of our supplies I heard a rumble of thunder.   I looked out the window and saw drops of rain pouring down from the sky.  Suddenly the weekend wasn’t looking so bright.

Salted Caramel S'mores are easy to make and fun for everyone

Thankfully I had a back up plan.  Nothing is worse then planning a treat at the end of the week only to have it be spoiled by rain.   I’ve been craving S’mores all week long and after running to Walmart that morning to pick up all the ingredients I needed to make my treat I wasn’t about to let a little rain stop me from my treat.  After all, you don’t need a campfire to make S’mores!

Make Gourmet S'mores indoors with the broiler on your oven.

I simply turned around and walked into the kitchen.   I grabbed a cookie sheet and turned on the oven.  My husband just looked at me.   I told him that there was no way we were missing out on S’mores so we were going to have our very own indoor S’mores party!  The great thing about making S’mores in the oven is that it’s easier to get the marshmallows golden brown instead of burnt and it only takes a few minutes!

Golden Brown Marshmallows are perfect for S'mores.

I put the graham crackers on the cookie sheet and topped them off with a marshmallow.   I put them in the oven until the marshmallow puffed up and was golden brown.   As soon as it came out of the oven I pushed the Hershey bar pieces into the marshmallow so it would melt just the right amount.  Then I put the topping on the chocolate and placed another graham cracker square on top.   That’s it!

Perfectly delicious Salted Caramel S'mores are a tasty dessert, even on a rainy day.

Soon my husband and I were each eating delicious S’mores out on the sun porch while we watched the rain pour down outside.  We each had a tall glass of milk to go along with the S’mores.   It was a tasty treat to make and while I enjoyed the Chocolate Covered Strawberry S’mores my husband really liked the Salted Caramel S’mores.   Our rainy Friday evening turned out to be quite enjoyable with our quick and easy to make gourmet S’mores.

  1. I love salted caramel and I love s’mores! Unfortunately, I can’t get graham crackers in Denmark, so I have to use digestives, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen pre-made caramel sauce. Do you happen to have a recipe for homemade caramel sauce?

  2. Would you believe I am American (New York) born and bred and I have never eaten a S’mores anything to date!
I do think they are great but never got around to trying them at a fair or a shop! Perhaps I should make them at home at your photo looks yum!

  3. I love this new twist to make for Smores!! They are one of my favorite summer time treats and desserts, its one of the best parts of summer!. I never would have thought to add caramel like this to the Smores!

  4. I need to make this, ASAP! I am trying to stay away from sugar, but this will be a great treat during my cheat day; the day that I can have a little bit of sugar. It is usually on Saturday.

I love the idea of making s’more without the need to make bonfire. Very convenient. Thanks for sharing the recipe with us!

  5. These look so good! I haven’t had a s’more in about 20 years, so I couldn’t even tell you how I like them. I can’t even remember. But I will tell you, these look amazing! My poor kids are seriously missing out to. But these would be perfect because they can be made inside and not near a fire, Perfect for city living!

  6. I’ve never tried salted caramel so this is something that I’d really love to taste. I’ve also never had a s’more – where have I been haha – so it’d be great to try one of these. They look so delicious and I love how the chocolate melts onto the marshmallow, so yummy! Thanks for sharing and for the food inspiration 🙂

  7. You must have read my mind We were going to fire up our pit tonight when it gets cooler to do some but it’s beginning to rain and we don’t want to miss out so we will be trying them indoors.

  8. Your technique for making these sounds awesome! I wouldn’t have thought to add caramel and sea salt. Usually, s’mores are too dry for me, so I think the caramel would really help. I can’t wait to try this.

  9. Oh my goodness these look GOOD!!! My mouth melted when I saw the pics!! I am definitely going to try these! Thank you SO much for sharing with me-and I love that you can make them indoors!! 😀
