DIY Cold Weather Care Packages are perfect to make and give to those in need

It’s no secret that I’m a teacher.   When I first moved to this area to teach it was a bit of a culture shock for me.   I previously lived in a large city and my school was made up of a solidly middle class families.   When I moved to my current town I was surprised by the amount of poverty that is in this area.

Run to Walmart to grab your Coca-Cola beverages for the holidays and support One Warm Coat

One thing I noticed is that many of the students don’t have the winter clothing that they need for our cold, snowy winters.  That’s why I was excited to hear that Coca-Cola is supporting the non-profit organization, One Warm Coat, in their mission to donate half a million free coats this holiday season.  Since I see how important it is for some of my students to receive a free coat during the colder months I wholeheartedly support this cause.

Cold Weather Care Packages are the perfect thing to go along with One Warm Coat.   While many of my students receive a warm coat for the winter, they do not receive a hat or gloves.   This year I’m getting some of my teacher friends together so that we can make Cold Weather Care Packages for the students to take home.

When I was at Walmart I not only purchased Coca-Cola but I also picked up a few hats, gloves, candy canes, and mugs.    I put together a few simple Cold Weather Care Packages for the students.    It only took me about 15 minutes to make 4 care packages and I know the students will appreciate the warm hats, gloves, the homemade hot chocolate, and the candy cane all wrapped up in a cute mug.  I tried to match the hats and gloves to the mug so that everything coordinated.  I know my friends will enjoy getting together and making these care packages.

  1. This is such a great idea!! I know teachers already do so much, so it’s so wonderful that you’re giving even more to those who need it most–I know they and their parents will appreciate it so much!
