The holidays can be stressful.   I feel like anytime the holidays roll around I have a million orders for cookies, pies, and cakes.  Then I have to think about packing to go and see my family.   There is just a lot to do and even though I might be off from school I don’t feel like there is enough time to do it all!

Of course just to stress myself out a little more I always have my students reward party the week of Thanksgiving.  That means that in addition to everything I have to make for Thanksgiving, bake for my orders, and do around the house, I also have to make cute little treats for them as well.

Everything you need to make delicious Turkey Brownies

Now I’ll let you in on a little secret.   While I love making cookies and brownies from scratch when they are for my family or my clients I don’t always make everything for scratch for my students.   Here is my confession; when I make themed treats for the students I almost always use a box mix.   The truth is, they are used to eating the box mixes and they are more excited about how I decorate the desserts then how they taste so I just whip up a box mix and then get to decorating.

These Turkey Brownies are no exception.  I started with a box of fudge brownies and made them in a 9 x 13 pan.  When they are cooled I frost them with a vanilla frosting that I tinted brown.   Of course you can use chocolate frosting but I find that to be too much chocolate in one dessert.   While I make the brownies from a mix I usually make the frosting myself.   It’s only a few ingredients and my frosting hardens while store bought stays soft.

The best part of these brownies are the decorations.  The body of the turkey is made from a mini peppermint chocolate candy.   The feathers are made from candy corn.  The beak is a mini M&M candy and while you can use candy eyes for the eyes, I simply used melted white and black chocolate to make them.
