Air fryer naan pizza is a deliciously simple way to turn bold flavors into a weeknight snack. The naan crisps in the air fryer, giving a golden, chewy crust in minutes. It’s topped with smoky Hatch chiles for a smoky heat along with crisp bacon for a savory, salty crunch, all held together with bubbling melted cheese.

It’s Hatch Chile season! Every year I wait for the end of summer for it to be Hatch Chile season so that I can make all the things with Hatch chiles.
What are Hatch Chiles?
Hatch chiles are a type of green chile pepper grown in the Hatch Valley of southern New Mexico. They’re loved for their unique balance of heat, smokiness, and earthy flavor, which comes from the region’s rich soil and hot, dry climate.
In the past I’ve made a few dishes with Hatch Chiles including an amazing Hatch Chile Pizza with Bacon and Mozzarella cheese. I’ve also made Hatch Beef Enchiladas which has a soft and smoky heat to them. While I haven’t tried my Green Chile and Cheddar Biscuits with Hatch Chiles I know they would work well in that recipe too.
So now that Hatch Chiles are available again I’ve been on the hunt to find them. While some places will roast them for you on the spot we haven’t been lucky enough to have a place like that around here.
That means that before I can use the chiles I have to roast them in the oven myself. I usually roast several pans of them so that I can freeze them to use later.
How do you roast Hatch Chile Peppers?
Place the peppers on a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil. Broil for several minutes, turning every minute or two, until the skin blisters and turns brown or black. Place the peppers in a bowl and cover it with plastic wrap for 10-15 minutes to steam them. This makes peeling them much easier. Peel the chiles then remove the stem and seeds.
How do you freeze roasted Hatch Chile Peppers?
Lay the chiles on a baking sheet lined with parchment and freeze for one hour. You can freeze them whole or chopped. Transfer to a freezer bag and freeze for up to one year.
This time around I wanted to make individual pizzas that were easy to make since this is such a busy time of year. I grabbed some mini Naan bread and made the pizzas on that.
What is Naan?
Naan is a soft, leavened flatbread that originates from South and Central Asia, especially popular in Indian, Afghan, and Persian cuisines.
I topped the Naan with sauce, cheese, crumbled bacon, and the hatch chile peppers. It’s such a simple pizza to make but the flavors worked so well together.
Ingredients:
- Mini Naan bread (you can also use pita bread if you can’t find naan)
- marinara or pizza sauce
- mozzarella cheese
- bacon
- roasted Hatch chile peppers
- Italian seasonings
Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees. Place two mini naan into the air fryer and cook for 3 minutes. Remove from the air fryer and top with sauce, cheese, bacon, chile peppers, and Italian seasonings. Continue cooking for 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the naan is golden brown.
This pizza is ready and cooked in just about 10 minutes. The smoky, spicy Hatch chile peppers were so good with the salty, crispy bacon on top. The cheese was gooey and delicious. Overall these mini naan pizza were a total winner!
If you aren’t a huge fan of bacon you can use pepperoni along with the Hatch chile peppers on the pizza for another tasty pairing.
If you don’t have an air fryer you can put these in the oven at 400 degrees. I usually cook them for about 10 minutes instead of the 5 to 7 minutes in the air fryer.
