Taco Seasoning

We make a lot of Mexican food in this house.ย ย I feel like it’s easy to make, we really like it, and there’s always plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day.ย I make tacos, enchiladas, taco salads, and nachos quite often.ย That means we go through a lot of taco seasoning and Mexican spices.
I usually have a ton of packets of tacos seasoning, fajita seasoning, and cumin in my cupboards but lately we’ve been going through them and I keep forgetting to buy more.ย That means whenever I’m making tacos I have to quickly try and throw together some seasoning.ย It’s not that it’s hard to do it’s just that I have to look up a recipe every single time.
So while I was on Instagram the other day I saw my friend Liz had a recipe for Taco Seasoning on her blog.ย ย Instead of pinning it and saving it for a later date that might not come I went right in to the kitchen and made a batch!ย The recipe makes about a cup which is good for 6-8 batches of tacos.
The taco seasoning is made with ingredients I always have on hand in the cupboard plus I added a few other ingredients.ย It took me less than 5 minutes to whip up a batch and now I have a jar of it on hand in my cupboard.ย I love the smell of it and I like that there are no preservatives in it.ย So if you are always looking for taco seasoning packets or don’t want seasoning with extra sodium try this Taco Seasoning for yourself!

Thanks for this recipe. How much do you use for 1 lb beef? Thanks.
I hope you like it! I use 1-2 tablespoons for a pound of beef with a little bit of water.
Thanks again!
This made my day – so happy to hear that you made the seasoning and enjoyed it! It’s definitely one of those things that I’ll forever make myself instead of buying, since it’s so easy and is made from spice cabinet staples.
Thanks for the recipe! I love making pantry staples at home!
See and this is exactly why I often make my own taco seasoning too. The ones on the market and included with kits are WAY too high in sodium. I will bookmark this one too. Great recipe.
Thank you! I agree, kits have way too much sodium!
