I am a big fan of Halloween and I’m so excited to start working on some Halloween projects with my son.   He’s just starting to get into crafts and I know he’ll love making pumpkins, ghosts, and other Halloween creatures.

I looked around to find ones that I thought were easy enough for us to do, that I had all the materials for, and that wouldn’t take too long.   I find that we can only sit for so long and when the crafts get too complicated he loses interested quickly.

I asked some of my favorite bloggers to share their favorite Halloween crafts for toddlers and preschoolers and they came back with some great ones.   We’ve already made two of these and have three more on the list to complete before Halloween.

I’ve also made some of these crafts with my Pre-K and Kindergarten students at school and they’ve been a success.

Tips for crafting with young kids:

  • Have the materials out and ready to go.   If there are things that need to be traced do it before you sit down with your child.
  • Cover the area with newspaper or a plastic tablecloth so that you don’t get paint or glue on your table.
  • Have a box of craft supplies that your child is able to use.  We have a drawer with crayons, colored pencils, safety scissors, coloring books, and glue sticks that our son can use on his own.  We keep the markers, sharp scissors, and paint in another location.
