Warm weather is coming and that means drinks on the porch! I love warm days where I can sit outside with friends sipping a cocktail while my husband grills our dinner. It's one of my favorite things to do in the summer.
Of course whenever I have friends coming over I like to make a new signature cocktail to offer them along with a variety of beer and wine. I'm known for my fun and creative cocktails often served in fun glasses with fruit or sugar on the rim. When I found out my friends were coming over I quickly headed to the pantry to see what vodka flavors we had.
The cherry vodka was calling my name. I love cherries anyhow but during the first few weeks of summer cherries begin showing up in stores and I really end up craving them. One of my favorite pairings with cherries is lime so this Cherry Lime Martini was an easy choice.
I simply used fresh squeezed lime juice, cherry vodka, and a bit of simple syrup. I find that when making martinis the two key elements are to use simple ingredients and fresh squeezed juice. Those two rules definitely made for a tasty cocktail in this case.
The Cherry Lime Martini is delicious. It's sweet but not too sweet as the lime juice adds a tart element to it. Cherry and lime are such a great pairing and when they are combined in a shaker with ice then strained into a martini glass its pure bliss.
- 1 ½ oz. cherry vodka
- 1 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice
- 1 oz. simple syrup
- red sanding sugar
- 1 lime
- Rim a martini glass with the juice from a lime wedge then dip into the red sanding sugar.
- Pour the cherry vodka, lime juice, and simple syrup in a shaker over ice. Shake for 30 seconds then strain into the martini glass.
- Place a wedge of lime on the rim and serve.
