The temperature has finally cooled off and fall is in the air. The first thing I think of when fall arrives is apples. I love making all kinds of fun creations with apples and I headed to Walmart to buy some supplies for a fun, fall themed party for my kids at school. I wanted to make a at least one treat and one beverage for the kids so first I purchased Mott’s 64 oz. Apple Juice and Mott’s 48 oz. Applesauce. I wasn’t sure if I would be using the applesauce for the party, but I always use it in my baking to substitute half the butter. Next I bought 5 pounds of apples with the idea of dipping them in chocolate and covering them in candy. When I headed to the seasonal candy aisle I hit the jackpot. There were a ton of new fall M&M’s flavors that I couldn’t wait to try! I picked up a bag of Candy Corn M&M’s, Peanut Butter M&M’s, and Candy Apple M&M’s which are a Walmart exclusive.
When I got home I decided to taste test the M&M’s flavors. My favorite were the Candy Corn M&M’s. I seriously could have sat down and eaten the entire bag. The Candy Corn M&M’s are white chocolate and taste like candy corn, but even better. My husband’s favorite were the Candy Apple M&M’s. They have a candy coating that taste like candy apples with a milk chocolate center. Delicious.
After taste testing the M&M’s, I started raiding my chocolate stash. I have a huge chocolate stash full of colors so I chose milk chocolate, black chocolate, and orange chocolate to dip my apples in. After taking a look at the colors of the M&M’s, I decided to put the Candy Apple M&M’s on the milk chocolate, the Candy Corn M&M’s on the orange chocolate, and the Peanut Butter M&M’s on the black chocolate.
Dipping the apples was easier then expected. After they were dipped I quickly placed the M&M’s all over them. I love the way they look. The colors on the apples are like the colors of the fall leaves. They are super fun and I knew the kids would go crazy over them. My husband and I split a Candy Corn M&M apple and it was awesome. It tasted like a candy corn covered apple which was seriously delicious. This would also be a great treat for the kids to help make themselves as they could put the M&M’s on the apples themselves.
While the apples were setting, I started making the Hot Apple Juice Cider. Whenever I think of cider I think of spiciness from cinnamon. To make the cider I simply heated the apple juice along with spices and vanilla on the stove for about 30 minutes. It smelled delicious and is definitely something I’ll be putting the stove the next time I have a party in the fall. I then poured the cider into glasses and served with a cinnamon stick! It would also be fun to put a dollop of whipped cream on top sprinkled with cinnamon.
The result? The kids loved both the apples and the cider! I don’t even think they realized there was an apple underneath the chocolate and M&M’s. As for the cider, the kids thought it was fun to drink warm apple cider. Many of them had never had it before! I was quite shocked about that but all in all the treats were a success and the kids enjoyed them. The Chocolate Covered M&M’s and Hot Apple Juice Cider would be perfect for any kids party or even a party for adults!

I’m not so sure about these new M&Ms flavors, but thanks for the ideas. 🙂 I think this chocolate purist will make apples this year with the regular flavors. 🙂
Apples are so versatile. I cooked homemade applesauce this morning and it was delicious. You are super creative!
Yummy, these look good. I had no idea that they had candy corn flavored mms. They sound interesting.
Honestly I have never tried to dip apples in anything yet. I know my daughters loved the caramel apples they tried at a fall festival! I know they would love these because they love M&M’s! Looks delicious!
What a fun apple treat! I will have to try it if I have a party this fall. That’s crazy that the kids hadn’t had hot apple cider before. It sounds like your house would smell amazing with the spices and juice. Nice.
Chocolate dipped apples would be a great alternative for me, because I can never get the caramel to stick!
