Let’s get one thing straight; I love chocolate chip cookies.  They are my go to dessert whenever my sweet tooth hits late at night.

I always have a collection of different types of chocolate chips and random flavored chips in my cupboard so that I’m able to make chocolate chip cookies at any time.   They are so easy to make and can be out of the oven in under 15 minutes.

I have made quite a few chocolate chip cookies on my quest to find the best.  I rotate which ones I make whenever the mood strikes because I like different things about them all.

In the summer I love these Sugar Cone Chocolate Chip Cookies.  A newer favorite are Mama Kelce’s Chocolate Chip Cookies which are loaded with two types of chocolate chips and pecans. When I don’t want any leftovers I make Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Cookies for 2.  I even make Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

This time around I decided to make a Copycat of Crumbl’s Chocolate Chip Cookies.  I’ve never actually had their chocolate chip cookie but I’ve had plenty of other’s from there so I knew the size and texture I was looking for.

What Are Crumbl Cookies?

Crumbl Cookies is the United States fastest growing cookie company.  It has a weekly rotating menu and has seasonal cookie flavors.  The chocolate chip cookie is always available along with four other flavors each week.  The cookies are available for take out, delivery, and catering.  They are so big that they are often cut in half or quarters and shared.

I was excited to make the chocolate chip cookies.  The original recipe only calls for milk chocolate chips but I decided to add in a chopped up chocolate bar and boy did it elevate these cookies.

Most of the Crumbl cookies are HUGE.  I wanted to make mine big as well but I didn’t need four ounce cookies sitting around my house.  I prefer to use a 3 tablespoon cookie scoop for these cookies.   It’s the perfect jumbo size without being too big.

Ingredient for making Crumbl Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Ingredients:

  • salted butter (or unsalted if you prefer)
  • brown sugar (this gives the cookies a softer texture and a rich flavor)
  • granulated sugar
  • eggs
  • vanilla extract
  • all purpose flour
  • cornstarch (this is to make the flour lighter like cake flour)
  • baking soda
  • salt
  • milk chocolate chips (or semi-sweet if you prefer)
  • good quality chocolate bar (in toffee or sea salt flavor; your choice!)

To make the cookies preheat the oven to 400 degrees.  Yes this seems hot but it is needed to bake the middle of these large cookies.

In a large mixing bowl cream together the butter, brown sugar, and sugar.   Mix until light and fluffy.  Add in the eggs and vanilla and beat for one minute.

Add the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt.   Mix well to combine. Fold in the chocolate chips and the chopped chocolate bars pieces.

Do I have to use the chopped chocolate bar?

No you don’t have too.  You can just use the chocolate chips.  However, using a good quality chocolate bar with either sea salt or toffee in it will take these cookies to the next level so I do recommend you use the chocolate bar.

Using a 3 tablespoon cookie scoop, scoop the dough onto a large cookie sheet making sure the cookies are at least 3 inches apart.

Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cookies just look set.   Remove from the oven and cool for at least 8 minutes before removing the cookies from the cookie sheet to a wire cooling rack.

How do I store these cookies?

Store these cookies in an air tight container on the counter for up to 5 days.

Can I freeze these cookies?

You can freeze these cookies.   After they cool place them on a baking sheet and freeze for 30 minutes.   Place in a freeze bag and keep in the freezer for up to 3 months.  When ready to enjoy simply thaw them on the counter.   You can refresh them by heating in the microwave for 10 seconds or placing them in the oven at 300 degrees for 5 minutes.
