Once December hits I start trying to come up with signature cocktails. We always have a Christmas party in December plus with Christmas and New Year’s Eve I have to come up with multiple fun drinks for anyone that decides to stop by.
While I love making fun and fresh cocktails, sometimes sangria is the way to go. Most years I end up making one if not two different version of sangria to keep around the house for company. I like making a white one and a red one. This year I decided to make a red cranberry sangria because it just felt like Christmas.
Since cranberry and orange go so well together I paired the two of them together in this delicious holiday sangria. It’s a little sweet but not overly so. The cranberry juice adds a bit of tartness to the sangria. The seltzer water adds a fun fizz to it.
I also added oranges and cranberries to the sangria which was an appealing look. I liked the flavor of the beverage a lot and it’s easy enough to sip on at home with friends or fancy enough to enjoy at a party. I ended up making a big batch and putting it in the used wine bottles. Once I was ready to serve it I added the seltzer and fruit.
Ingredients
- 1 bottle sweet red wine I used moscato
- 1 bottle dry red wine
- 4 c. cranberry juice
- 1 c. orange liqueur
- 4 c. seltzer water
- 2 oranges sliced
- 1/2 c. fresh cranberries
Instructions
- In a large container combine the sweet red wine, dry red wine, cranberry juice, and orange liqueur. Mix well to combine.
- Put in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
- When ready to serve the sangria, add in the seltzer water, oranges, and cranberries. Serve over ice.
If only we lived closer! We could have a sangria party. I love the addition of orange liqueur in this one – yum!
