Skip the drive-thru and treat yourself at home! This Copycat Wendy’s Frosty recipe is rich, creamy, and incredibly easy to make. Grab a spoon (or a straw!) because dessert just got a whole lot sweeter!

I don’t know about you but in the summer I like to have a cold treat ready and available whenever I come in from working in the gardening, playing outside with my son, or whenever I’m just hot from the weather.Â
While sometimes it’s easy to run somewhere and grab an ice cream cone or go through a drive thru and get slushy, other times I just want to be able to open up the freezer and get something out without running out.Â
I do tend to make a lot of no churn ice cream or ice cream sandwiches to keep in the freezer for hot days. No Churn Cherry Cheesecake Ice Cream is a quick and tasty ice cream I like to make. Frozen S’mores is a fun frozen dessert that I can eat on the go.  I love this No Churn Lemon Shortbread Ice Cream. Then of course we make the classic Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches.
One frozen treat that I do like going out for is a Wendy’s Frosty. While I’m not a huge chocolate ice cream fan, this creamy and lighter chocolate treat is something that is so refreshing in the heat.Â
What is a Wendy’s Frosty?
A Wendy’s Frosty is a classic frozen dessert that’s in between a milkshake and soft serve ice cream. It’s thick enough to eat with a spoon but smooth enough to sip through a straw once it softens a little.
I decided I was going to make a copycat recipe for the Frosty. I needed to use up some chocolate milk and was looking for easy recipes when I came across one for Copycat Wendy’s Frosty. I was shocked when I saw there were only 4 ingredients in it and it took just 5 minutes of hands on time to make!
Basically you put the ingredients together in a bowl and whisk until smooth. Then you freeze the mixture, stirring every 45 minutes, until it has frozen.Â
When you are ready to eat you can scoop it out like ice cream or put it in a blender and blend until it’s smooth like the consistency of the Wendy’s Frosty. It’s that easy!
Can I use White milk instead of chocolate milk?
You can but then you will be adding extra ingredients. If you use white milk you also will need to add 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder to the mixture and increase the sweetened condensed milk by 1/4 cup.Â
Ingredients:
- chocolate milk
- sweetened condensed milk
- Cool Whip
- vanilla extract (optional)
To make the Frosty’s simply put all the ingredients in a bowl and whisk until combined. Pour into a container and freeze, stirring every 45 minutes or so until it is frozen.Â
This tastes exactly like a Frosty! Both my husband and I were shocked by how similar it tasted. It had that light and creamy chocolate flavor.Â
On the first day we made it, it stayed softer and had a good Frosty texture. However, the next day it was definitely harder and more ice cream like.Â
How do I get it back to a Frosty texture?
It doesn’t take much to get it back to the perfect frosty consistency. Simply put it in a blender and blend for 10-20 seconds. If that doesn’t work, add a tablespoon or two of chocolate milk and then blend it. You can also let it sit on the counter for 10-15 minutes before serving.
When we first scooped the Frosty we had to eat it with a spoon but after a few minutes it was thin enough to drink with a straw if you’d like. It’s just like a Frosty and is a fun treat to make at home.Â
How do you store Copycat Wendy’s Frosty?
After it has frozen place it in an air tight container with a lid in the freezer. It will last up to 1 month in the freezer.Â

I just went to a local Wendy’s where one of my favorite radio personalities was appearing and they handed out little Frosty’s to everyone. It was a reminder of just how good they are. I can’t wait to try this at home!
