Now that I’m home with J a lot more I’ve been implementing a daily craft into our routine.   Whenever he is in school he does a craft with his teacher so I figured we could do this at home as well.  I have tons of craft supplies in the house so I knew we would be able to find some things to make.

J is not a huge fan of coloring but he has been getting better with it.  He will now color for 10 minutes at a time instead of 30 seconds which is a huge improvement.   Since he is coloring for a few minutes we did this Easy Flower Craft which is great for spring or summer.

Supplies You Will Need:

  • Paper
  • Crayons
  • Popsicle Sticks
  • Mini cupcake liners
  • Glue

Pieces for a flower craft

All of the needed supplies I had at home.   I’m guessing most moms will have the paper, crayons, popsicle sticks, and glue.  You may need to grab some mini cupcake liners but you can find those for like a dollar.   In addition to using them for this project or for mini cupcakes they are great for holding googly eyes and beads when you are making other crafts.

Start the project by giving your child a blank sheet of paper and let they color all over it.  It doesn’t matter which colors they use. We love using Kwikstix because it is solid tempera paint in crayon form so you get the look of paint but without the mess!

Next give your child the popsicle sticks and have them color them green.  If your child can use scissors you can then draw a few flowers on the paper they colored and have them cut them out.  J isn’t able to use scissors yet so I cut the flowers out for him.

Then I simply put glue on the popsicle sticks and he pushed the flowers on top them.  Next I put glue on the flower and he put the mini cupcake liner on for the center of the flower.

These turned out so cute!   They took us about 20 minutes to make 4 of them.  I can’t wait to hang them up around the house as a reminder that spring is finally here.
