When I first saw this recipe I was pretty excited about it. Whipped coffee sitting on top of steamed milk? Sounded delicious to me! Then when I found out it’s made with instant coffee I immediately went the other way.
It’s not that I’m a coffee snob because I’m not but there is just something about instant coffee that I really don’t like. The flavor isn’t as good and it’s just not the same. However, I was willing to give it a try since it seems like everywhere I turn someone is drinking one!
The good news is that this coffee drink is super easy to make and it only takes about 5 minutes. You pour the instant coffee, sugar, and hot water in a mug and whip until it is cloud like. Then your put it on top of steamed or iced milk.
I’m happy to report that this whipped coffee is really tasty! The whipped part is a little strong but the sugar tames it and mixed with the milk it’s just about perfect!
Next time I’m planning on pouring some vanilla or caramel syrup into the milk and making it that way. I think it’ll be a great mid-afternoon pick me up!
Ingredients
- 2 T. instant coffee
- 2 T. hot water
- 2 T. sugar
- 1 c. steamed milk
Instructions
- Place the coffee, water, and sugar in a bowl.
- Beat with a mixer on medium to medium high speed until it is fluffy.
- Steam the milk and pour in a coffee mug.
- Spoon the whipped coffee on top of the milk and enjoy.
