Halloween is coming quickly so it’s time to start getting ready!ย ย Do you celebrate Halloween and if so what do you do to get ready?ย In my house I usually hang a wreath on the door, stick some ghosts out in the flower beds, and start my Halloween baking.ย ย Of course there is also finding costumes and buying candy to hand out to the neighborhood kids.
But lets go back to baking.ย I usually start trying to make some Halloween treats in September so I can see if they look good and taste good.ย I’m one to make things in advance just to make sure they will work and then I’ll make them again later on when it’s closer to the date.
I have so many great Halloween recipes. My Easy Ghost Brownies are super easy to make and fun for kids to decorate.ย For breakfast I love making these Monster Baked Donuts.ย Kids will love these fun Frankenstein Cupcakes.ย I’ve even been known to make Halloween Jack-o-Lantern Burgers for dinner!
This year I wanted to make something that could be used for Halloween or just as a tasty fall treat.ย I came up with these Halloween Pumpkin Blondies! ย ย Remove the holiday sprinkles and you have a nice fall dessert.
What are Blondies?
Blondies are a type of dessert bar, similar to brownies, but made with vanilla and brown sugar instead of cocoa or chocolate.ย ย This gives them a lighter, golden color which is why they are called blondies. ย They usually have a rich, buttery flavor and a chewy texture. They are normally made with butter, brown sugar, flour, eggs, and vanilla, with add-ins like chocolate chips, nuts, or dried fruits.
I made these Halloween Blondies in early September but I plan on making them again the week of Halloween.ย I started with my basic blondie recipe then went from there.ย Since I was making these for Halloween I wanted to give it a fall flavor so I added in pumpkin chips and pumpkin pie spice.ย This gave the blondies a lot of spicy flavor which is great in the fall.
Then to jazz them up even more I added in M&M’s Ghoul mix which is simply a combination of Halloween colored candies.ย If you can’t find this specific mix just add in M&M’s in Halloween colors.
The finishing touch is topping the blondies off with Sprinkle Pop All Hallows Sprinkle Mix.ย This is such a fun mix because it has orange, black, and white sprinkles as well as transparent pumpkins and bats.ย ย There are also silver rods and beads.ย Then there are some bigger orange and black balls.ย ย The entire mix screams Halloween which made it perfect for these blondies.
The bars tasted of pumpkin, chocolate, and spices which I think is a great combination for Halloween.ย They looked awesome as well.ย I took them in to school and they were gobbled up by the teachers.ย I plan on making them again the week of Halloween to give them to the kids at school.ย I think they will think they are really fun!
