Thanksgiving is coming and that means it’s time to start trying out some new recipes.   I often start making side dishes, breads, and desserts early in November to try them out before the holiday arrives.   I like trying the dishes out ahead of time so I know they are something we’ll enjoy on the holiday.

One of my favorite holiday side dishes is Loaded Cauliflower Casserole with cheese and bacon on top.  For Thanksgiving Apple and Chestnut Stuffing is a really flavorful stuffing that pairs well with turkey. Hash Brown Casserole is a great side for any holiday meal.  For something a little different Balsamic Roasted Sweet Potatoes and Brussels Sprouts hits the spot.

I’ve been experimenting with several different breads because that is one of my favorite parts of the meal.   Since I like gravy on everything, it’s important to have a great bread to soak up all that extra gravy.   In the past I’ve made different kinds of savory rolls, cheesy bread, and garlic knots.

This year I came up with a savory and slightly sweet flavored roll.  These Savory Cheddar Honey Butter Rolls are easy to make and don’t take too long to rise.

The rolls are baked in a pie pan and then separated when they come out.   They are made with cheddar cheese, onion powder, garlic, and honey.   Then the rolls are brushed with an amazing honey garlic butter.

These rolls are delicious.  The insides are soft, cheesy, and savory.   The tops of the rolls are garlicky and have a slightly sweet flavor.

We enjoyed them with vegetable soup and they tasted great while dipping them into the soup.   I know they’ll be a big hit at Thanksgiving for soaking up the leftover gravy.
