It’s the end of summer and I’ve been going to several farmer’s markets every week. My son and I love looking around, talking to people, and just enjoy picking out our own produce.
Recently there has been a lot of fruit available because it’s stone fruit season! What is a stone fruit? Simply put, it’s a fruit with a “stone” or pit in the middle of it.
Popular stone fruits include cherries, peaches, plums, apricots, mangoes, and lychees. One of my personal favorite stone fruits in the peach.
I just love how sweet and juicy peaches are whenever they are ripe. There is a guy who comes to the farmer’s market every week and all he sells is fruit. He sells the best peaches and they are always at a great price. Sometimes they are a little hard so you have to wait to eat them but it’s always worth the wait.
There are so many different ways to cook peaches. From peach pie and peach smoothies to peach salads and peach crostini there are so many ways you can use peaches. The great thing about peaches is that you can use them in both sweet and savory recipes.
