Savory, cheesy, and loaded with crispy bacon, this Bacon Cheddar Beer Bread is packed with flavor! It’s an easy quick bread with a tender inside and golden brown crust. It’s perfect with soup, pastas, or by itself.

The weather has been getting colder and soup season is upon us! I’ve been gathering my favorite soup recipes so that I can make my weekly pot of soup on Sundays. I love making a big pot that we can eat for lunch all week long.
However, eating soup all week means that we need something to eat with that soup. While we often have a grilled cheese sandwich or some crackers, sometimes I like to make bread or rolls to go along with the soup.
We make a lot of homemade soups at our house. Easy Potato Soup is one of our favorites. While a little bit more work, my homemade Wonton Soup is great with Asian meals. For a hearty soup I go with Beef Vegetable Soup. The ultimate comfort food soup for me is Chicken and Dumplings.
This week I decided to take my favorite Cheddar Beer Quick Bread recipe and amp it up with the additional of bacon because honestly? Bacon makes everything taste even better.

What is quick bread?
Quick bread is a type of bread that is made without yeast. Instead of using yeast to help the bread rise, quick breads use baking powder, baking soda, or both as leavening agents. This means there’s no need to wait for the dough to rise, making quick breads faster and easier to prepare than traditional yeast breads.
This bread comes together really quickly. You basically fry the bacon and chop it up then mix everything together and pour it into a bread pan. Then you bake it.
The one question I often get asked is what kind of beer do I use in my cheddar beer bread. I usually just use whatever we have in the refrigerator to be honest. I do prefer a light lager or mild ale because it doesn’t tend to make the bread bitter. Darker beers tend to leave a bitter flavor in the bread.
Why you will love Bacon Cheddar Beer Bread:
- You can have homemade bread in about an hour with this recipe.
- Bacon cheddar beer bread is great with soups, pastas, or used in a grilled cheese.
- You can change the cheese flavor if you want something else like pepper jack, smoked gouda, or mozzarella.
- Beer adds a delicious depth of flavor that pairs perfectly with the cheddar cheese.
- It’s easy to customize by adding garlic, jalapeños, or fresh herbs to make it your own.
- It’s a great recipe for bread beginners because it’s easy to make.

Ingredients:
- all purpose flour
- baking powder
- salt
- granulated sugar
- shredded cheddar cheese
- light lager or ale
- whole milk
- bacon
- salted butter
- fresh chives (optional)

To make the bread you basically mix all the ingredients together and put them in a loaf pan. Top with cheese and butter then bake.
This bread smells amazing! It smells like fresh bread, cheese, and beer all in one and the smell is intoxicating.
I enjoy this bread served warm with butter on it but it’s also good cold and served with soup or pasta. It’s even hearty enough to use for sandwich bread.
How do you store cheddar beer bread?
Store it in an air tight container on the counter for up to 5 days. You can also just put it on a plate and cover it with foil. If you want to freeze it cool it completely, wrap in plastic wrap, then foil, then place in a freezer bag. You can freeze it for up to 6 months.
