November and December are such busy months for us.   After work most days I’m either running to aerobics or running home to bake cookies.   My husband is usually running around doing things for his business or working with the students he tutors.   Between the two of us it’s sometimes difficulty to get a meal on the table in time for us to eat during the week.  This is where Marie Callender’s Pot Pies come in handy.

I’m always looking for easy but delicious meals to buy when I’m at the market.   This past weekend while shopping at Walmart I saw the Family Size Marie Callender’s Pot Pies.   Since my husband and I are both fans of chicken pot pie, especially when it’s cold outside, I picked up two of them.  When I don’t have time to make my own chicken pot pies we enjoy the ones from Marie Callender’s.   The homemade gravy mixed with vegetables and all white-meat chicken, in a golden, perfectly flaky crust that’s made from scratch is perfect for a weeknight meal.A delicious Chicken Pot Pie from Marie Callender's

This past week I was going to be at aerobics until 6:00 and I knew I wouldn’t have time to cook when I got home. With the recent cold-front moving through, I thought a pot pie would be the perfect comfort food to warm us up.  I suggested this to my husband and he seemed excited by it.  I told him to simply put the pot pie  in the oven around 4:30 and I’d be home in time to take it out and fix the sides to go with it.  While chicken pot pie could be a one pan meal, I always like to pair it with some bread.

When I returned home from aerobics I could smell the Marie Callender’s Chicken Pot Pie in the oven.   I peeked in the oven and my mouth started watering when I saw the golden, flaky crust.  I took out the Ciabatta rolls which I also purchased at Walmart and stuck them in the oven for a few minutes just to heat them up.   I took everything out of the oven and allowed the pot pie to cool for a few minutes before cutting.

The top of the pot pie was golden brown and smelled amazing.   I sliced it up and put it on two plates.   I took the ciabatta rolls over to the table on another plate and it was time to eat!   My husband took a tentative bite and then looked at me and smiled.   We both enjoyed the flaky crust, the large pieces of chicken, and the homemade gravy.   In fact, we enjoyed it so much we each had a second piece!

Warm Up with Marie Callender's Pot Pies!

Not only did we enjoy the delicious flavor of the pot pie, but it was so easy to make.   It made dinner on my busy aerobics night a snap!   Another great part about this meal is the light clean up.   Instead of having tons of dishes to wash, I simply placed the leftovers in a container and threw away the pie pan.   These are the perfect meal to warm up with this winter.

  1. I love their pot pies!! (They’re pretty much the only kind I eat regularly) and am very excited about a family size option!! How cool! And I’m glad to hear you’re getting out to aerobics. What I really like about the pot pies is that they are a pretty good one-pot meal with the veggies, crust, chicken, and gravy…. Okay, I am going to have to pick one up soon!
